2017 Jeep Compass Off-Road

If you’ve been waiting for the arrival of the all-new 2017 Jeep Compass – the wait’s almost over. Jeep recently unveiled the 2017 models of the Compass Limited and Compass Trailhawk, which will replace both the Jeep Patriot and existing Compass line-up. In other words, the new Compass is unrelated to both previous Compass versions and the Patriot – it’s an entirely new offering from Jeep.

Fortunately, the first-look at this new model leaves plenty to be excited about. Although the 2017 Compass will make its official debut in November at the Los Angeles Auto Show, Jeep provided photos to the public ahead of its release. Until then, though, we don’t have many details.

At Columbia Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, we couldn’t be more excited about the all-new Compass. It pays homage to its predecessors, but cuts an entirely new path of its own. You can expect to see it here at Columbia, TN in the first quarter of next year.

2017 Jeep Compass: Expected Specifications

The new model – which will become available in early 2017 – is based on the Renegade platform, although it’s a “stretch” version that’s both wider and longer. Fiat Chrysler calls this its “Small Wide 4×4” architecture, and the new Patriot will sit between the Renegade and Cherokee in Jeep’s model line-up.

Although Jeep hasn’t yet released all details regarding the 2017 Compass, industry insiders have speculated about its possible equipment. According to AutoWeek, the base model engine will be either 2.0L inline 4 cylinder that delivers 158 horsepower and 141 pound-feet of torque, but a larger version – a 2.4L I4 – will also be available. The larger version will boast output to 172 horsepower.

Like most Jeeps, front-wheel drive will most likely be the standard option, but of course, Jeep’s legendary 4×4 will also be offered in two 4×4 packages. In addition, AutoWeek reports that speculated four transmission options will be available, including a five-speed manual, six-speed automatic, and two CVTs.

In terms of exterior styling, the new Jeep Compass will feature a brawnier, sturdier stance – a more substantial look compared to earlier compact Jeeps. Upfront, the new Compass features a completely redesigned fascia – with a narrower 7-slot signature Jeep grille. In fact, the new Compass takes many of its design cues from the larger Grand Cherokee, including a flaring rear end and extended hood.

2017 Jeep Compass: Coming Soon Early Next Year

There still aren’t many details about the new Compass, and we’ll likely have to wait until November to learn more, when Jeep officially unveils the Compass at the LA Auto Show. But until then, the first photos of the new Compass offer hints at what Jeep has in plans.

And as mentioned, Jeep has said that the Compass will be shipped in early 2017, so you can expect it here at Columbia Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Fiat sometime after the first of the year. Until then, we’re going to keep our eyes peeled for new details – and try to hide our excitement.
