Billy Idol’s iconic album Rebel Yell redefined a genre and a generation. Ram has done Mr. Idol one better by designing and manufacturing a pickup truck that blows other pickup trucks away. Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Columbia is proud to announce that Ram recently unveiled the 1500 Rebel to universal acclaim.

The North American International Auto Show Unleashes a Pickup Truck Star

Ram introduced the 1500 Rebel on January 13, 2015, at the North American International Auto Show. Held in Detroit, the premier automotive industry event showcased the most innovative automotive technology, as well as the vehicles that incorporate the advanced technology. As many reviews mention, Ram has designed a pickup truck that rebels against typical pickup truck design and performance standards. As the name infers, the 2015 Ram 1500 Rebel offers a more aggressive engine that takes off-road driving to a new level. Pickup truck accessories that CDJR Columbia customers find in the aftermarket come standard with the 1500 Rebel. The rugged pickup truck features a taller body frame, large aluminum-alloy wheels, and class-only dual exhaust.

Ram Explains the 1500 Rebel Philosophy

Ram CEO and President, Bob Hegbloom let attendees at the 2015 North American International Auto Show in on a little secret. During a press conference, Hegbloom said Ram targets the new 1500 Rebel to customers that want the more aggressive appearance of the company’s Power Wagon, while paying a price similar to what goes for the affordable Big Wheel pickup truck. Hegbloom claimed designing the 2015 Ram 1500 Rebel didn’t require balancing innovation and affordability. As he unveiled the pickup truck during the high tech press conference, Hegbloom presented a video on the 20-foot high definition screen about how the 1500 Rebel beats other pickup trucks in its class. “Now’s the time to bring it to market,” Hegbloom said. “The Rebel, as its name implies, is an all-new breed.”

Performance that Blows Away the Competition

The 2015 Ram 1500 Rebel pickup truck has the capability of hauling loads that weigh over 9,000 pounds. This means that CDJR customers not only can use the 1500 Rebel for personal hauling tasks, they can also generate revenue by taking the 1500 Rebel deep within the Smoky Mountains to haul valuable timber back to Nashville, Tennessee. Ram makes sure the engine that powers the rugged pickup truck doesn’t empty your wallet at the gas pump. The EcoDiesel engine that drives the 2015 Ram 1500 Rebel achieves nearly 30 miles per gallon fuel economy on Tennessee highways. Ram designed the 2015 1500 Rebel to include a four-door crew cab. The standard 3.6-liter Pentastar, six-cylinder engine delivers 305 horsepower and 269 pounds-feet of torque to accelerate over the most rugged terrain. Ram also offers CDJR Columbia customers the company’s highly touted 5.7-liter Hemi V8 engine that generates nearly 400 horsepower and 410 pounds-feet of torque. A fuel-conserving shut off valve ensures the more powerful Hemi V8 does not drain your monthly fuel budget.

Subtle Changes Make a Big Difference

During his comprehensive news conference, Hegbloom often mentioned the small changes that Ram has made in the design of the 1500 Rebel. The 2015 1500 Rebel includes a much higher stance that provides more room between the undercarriage and road surfaces. Additional space under the pickup truck ensures you never have to worry about the 1500 Rebel scraping against paved surfaces or undulating terrain. For the first time in over 20 years, Ram has changed the cross-hair exterior grille, although Hegbloom said the exterior design change is not a permanent feature of the 1500 Rebel pickup truck. “We’ll see how it resonates,” Hegbloom said during an interview with The Detroit News. “We have a long history with the cross-hair grille and I don’t ever see us walking away from that, but there may be packages where you do different executions.” Ram also excludes the iconic Ram logo from the exterior of the pickup, which gives the pickup truck an old school look.

Automotive Experts Enthusiastically Praise the Ram 1500 Rebel

Minutes after Hegbloom left the podium at the 2015 North American International Auto Show, automotive experts began effusively praising the new incarnation of the 1500 Rebel pickup truck. Senior Kelly Blue Book analyst Karl Brauer said that with rapidly growing demand in the U.S. market for pickup trucks, it is not surprising that Ram tinkered with the 1500 Rebel to push the style and performance envelope. “The demand for trucks feels almost insatiable right now, which means brands like Ram can produce specialized niche models, with higher pricing and profit, and be assured of enough volume to justify the exercise,” Brauer said. “The Rebel also extends Ram’s reach into buyers who want the image of a serious off-road machine, but can’t afford the pricier Power Wagon.”
